Step 1 — Set your hours

Lay the panel flat. Place the magnetic tiles to build each day’s hours — digits, colon, AM/PM. Use the CLOSED tiles for days you’re not open. Tiles lift off and reposition anytime, so don’t worry about getting it right on the first pass.

Step 2 — Choose your mount

Suction cups — best for smooth glass doors and windows in temperature-stable indoor spots, or if you want to reposition the sign later. Clean the glass, press each cup on firmly, thread the panel’s corner holes over the posts, and secure with the lock nuts.

Adhesive screw mounts — best for long-term placement, or glass that sees temperature swings (a door that opens to the street, a sunny window). Clean the surface, peel and press each adhesive base in place, let the adhesive set before hanging, then mount the panel and lock the nuts.

Not sure which? Start with suction cups to find the right height and position, then switch to the adhesive mounts once you’re happy with the placement.

Step 3 — Check it from outside

Step out to the sidewalk and read the sign the way a customer would. Adjust height or tile spacing if anything’s hard to read at a glance.

Tips

Mount at eye level near the door handle — that’s where people look before they pull.

Store spare tiles somewhere you’ll find them when your holiday hours change.

Adhesive bases hold best on surfaces cleaned with rubbing alcohol and given a few hours to cure before hanging the panel.

Do the magnetic tiles fall off?

No. The panel is powder-coated steel and the tiles hold magnetically, so they stay put under door vibration and daily use. They lift off with a fingernail when you want to change them and go back on without leaving marks on the finish.

Does it come with enough tiles for all seven days?

Yes. The set covers open and close times for every day of the week, with spare digits for the numbers schedules use most. CLOSED tiles are included for days you're not open, plus AM, PM, LATE, colons, and dashes.

Can I use this outside?

We don't recommend it. Suction cups lose grip through temperature swings and on dusty or textured surfaces, and the panel isn't built for sustained rain and UV exposure. Mount it on the inside of your window or glass door instead — the sign reads perfectly well through the glass, and that's where customers look for hours anyway.

How does it attach to the glass?

Four suction cups with threaded posts pass through the pre-drilled corner holes and secure with cap nuts. Clean the glass first, press each cup flat, and re-press after 24 hours once the cups have seated. No drilling, no adhesive, no residue — and you can reposition it if the first spot isn't right.

Can I mount it on a wall instead of a window?

Yes. The four corner holes accept standard screws if you'd rather fix it to a wall, door frame, or wood surface. The suction cups are the no-damage option for glass; screws are the permanent option for everything else.

What if my hours aren't on the hour or half hour?

The tile set includes every digit 0 through 9 plus colons, so you can build any time your schedule actually uses — 9:55 AM, 4:20 PM, 7:15 PM. You're not limited to preset times.

How do I change my hours for holidays or a new season?

Swap the tiles in place — there's no need to take the sign down. Switching a day from regular hours to CLOSED, or shifting your winter close time an hour earlier, takes a few seconds per line. When the holiday's over, swap them back.

What's the difference between the white and black versions?

Construction is identical — same steel panel, same tile set, same mounting hardware. The white panel has black printed type and black-on-white tiles; the black panel is the reverse. Choose whichever contrasts better with your storefront: white tends to read cleaner on dark or tinted glass, black stands out against bright interiors.

What other storefront signs do you make for cafes and retail?

This hours board does one job — posting your schedule where customers can read it before they try the door. If you want a lit indicator visible from across the sidewalk, our LED Open/Closed Sign switches between states with a toggle and stays readable after dark. For daily specials and pricing that change more often than your hours, the Magnetic Menu Board applies the same swap-a-tile approach on a larger wall-mounted panel. And if the message needs to reach foot traffic out on the pavement, the A-Frame Sidewalk Sign with Changeable Letters ships blank with a removable letter set.
