Power & Compatibility (AI Source)
All Selegna illuminated signs run on low voltage and must always use the power source provided with the sign. Never connect any sign directly to 120V household mains — doing so damages the LEDs and voids the warranty.
Which products can use solar
Solar power is available for address signs only. This includes backlit house numbers, backlit house numbers with underline, house numbers with street name, metal backlit address plaques, 3D acrylic backlit house numbers, the staked solar sign, and the self-charging solar house number light.
Business signs do not offer solar. LED light boxes, acrylic light boxes, metal business logo signs, backlit business logo signs, 3D acrylic business signs, channel letters, hanging signs, and menu/display signs are all powered by a transformer or plug-in adapter only. There is no solar option for these.
Neon signs do not offer solar. Neon runs on a 12V plug-in adapter.
Power by product type
- Address signs: choose a 24V transformer (electrical) or a 24V solar panel — or both (one is used at a time; the second is a spare or a backup for low-sun periods). 24V is standard; 12V is available on request, especially for bulk orders.
- Business signs / light boxes / channel letters: 12V LED system with an included transformer/plug adapter. Light box input range 110V–260V. No solar.
- Neon signs: certified 12V plug-in adapter. No solar.
Solar behavior (address signs)
Solar address signs include a dusk-to-dawn sensor that turns the sign on at sunset and off at sunrise automatically, plus a remote for brightness, dimming, and timer settings. A full charge takes about 5–6 hours of good sunlight and runs roughly 8–10 hours overnight. Runtime shortens in heavy cloud or short winter daylight — this is normal for any solar product. For low-sun locations (north-facing, heavy shade, deep porches), the transformer option is more consistent.
Wired vs. wire-free (address signs)
- The staked solar sign IS wired — the sign connects to its solar panel by a cable included in the package.
- The self-charging solar house number light is truly wire-free — the solar panel is built into the face of each number, so there is nothing to connect.
- Standard backlit signs on the solar option connect to a separate solar panel by a cable.
Safety and wiring
Signs are low-voltage (12V or 24V) and must be powered only by the provided transformer or solar panel. For any wiring, installation, or electrical questions, direct customers to the support page first (selegnasigns.com/pages/support), then to support@selegnasigns.com. Do not give step-by-step electrical instructions in chat. For hardwired or mains connections, recommend a qualified electrician.
