How to Install Your Self-Charging Solar House Number Numbers

SOLAR INTEGRATED 3D BACKLIT HOUSE NUMBERS — INSTALLATION GUIDE

Light up your address without lifting a wire. Each of our Solar Integrated 3D Backlit House Numbers has its solar cells built directly into the front face, so it charges through the day and illuminates on its own after dark—no panels to mount, no wiring, no transformer. This guide walks you through a quick, clean installation.

Why Choose Solar Integrated 3D House Numbers?

These house numbers are powered entirely by the sun, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional wired lighting. The solar cells are integrated into the face-panel of each number and charge throughout the day, illuminating built-in LEDs after sundown. An integrated dusk-to-dawn sensor automatically turns the lights on when it gets dark and off when the sun rises—providing convenience and energy efficiency with no wiring required.

Before You Start

Safety Information

Handling: Place numbers on a soft cloth during setup to avoid scratching the face-panels. Wear protective gloves when handling tools and hardware.

Installation Safety: Use the correct tools and methods as specified to ensure a secure installation.

No Electrical Work Required: This is a fully solar, wire-free product. There is no mains wiring, no transformer, and no electrical connections to make.

Power On First: Each number has a physical On/Off button on the back. Press it to the ON position before mounting. If a number is already on the wall and unlit, you don't need to remove it — use a thin wooden stick to reach behind and push the button on.

Package Contents

  • Solar 3D Backlit Number(s)

Tools and Materials Needed

Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials:

  • Marker or Pencil: For marking drill holes through the template.
  • Masking Tape: To secure the template firmly in place.
  • Drill with 5/32" for the threaded rods or 1/4" for the plastic studs — drill 15 mm deep holes.
  • Level or Tape Measure: To ensure alignment and even placement.
  • Rubber Mallet (optional): To tap the numbers flush against the wall.
  • Anchor Bolts (if necessary): Depending on the type of exterior wall surface.

Choose the Right Location

Select a spot that receives direct sunlight for 5–6 hours a day for optimal charging. Avoid placing your numbers under shaded areas like large trees or building overhangs—the integrated solar panel needs sun exposure to charge effectively.

Also consider nearby light sources. The integrated dusk-to-dawn sensor turns the lights on and off based on ambient light levels. If the numbers are placed near a bright external light source—such as a streetlight or porch light—the sensor may detect that brightness and fail to activate the backlighting at night. Choose a location where outside light does not directly influence the sensor to ensure optimal functionality.

Layout Flexibility: Your numbers can be arranged however suits your space — in a horizontal row, stacked vertically, or staggered across lines. Each number comes with its own paper template, so simply position the templates where you'd like each number to sit, then use a level or tape measure to keep them aligned and evenly spaced before drilling.

Installation Steps

1: Unboxing: Remove all contents carefully. Place the numbers on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the face-panels.

2: Cleaning the Surface: Clean the wall or pillar where the numbers will be mounted so the template adheres evenly.

3: Positioning the Template: Secure the paper template to the surface with masking tape. Use a level or tape measure to confirm it is straight and evenly placed.

4: Marking for Drill Holes: Mark through the template where the threaded rods will go.

5: Drilling the Holes: Drill with 5/32" & 1/4" Bits: 5/32" for the threaded rods or 1/4" for the plastic studs — drill 15 mm deep holes.

6: Attaching the Hardware: Screw the threaded rods (or optional plastic studs) into the back of each number. Slide the wall spacers onto the rods to ensure even mounting and consistent spacing.

7: Mounting the Numbers: Press the rods or plastic studs into the holes until the spacers sit flush against the wall. This creates the even gap required for the 3D floating effect and the backlit glow. If desired, use a rubber mallet with a block of wood to gently tap the numbers flush.

Operation & Remote Functions

Your numbers can be controlled with the included remote, or with the physical On/Off button located on the back of each number.

  • Power: Turn the unit ON or OFF remotely.
  • Light Temperature: Toggle between Warm White, Neutral White, and Cold White illumination.
  • Dimmer: Adjust the brightness level for your desired backlit effect.
  • Timer (if applicable): Set specific durations for nighttime lighting.

Dusk-to-Dawn Sensor: The integrated sensor automatically turns the house numbers on when it gets dark, providing hassle-free operation and energy efficiency. To test the sensor during the day, cover the face of a number with a dark object to trigger the lights.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning: Regularly wipe the face-panel and matte finish with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the solar panel and damage the finish.

Inspection: Periodically check and tighten any loose components to keep the numbers mounted securely.

Drainage Hole: You may notice a small hole on the bottom of each number. This is a drainage hole that allows any moisture or condensation to escape, preventing water from collecting inside. It is a normal part of the design — the LEDs themselves are fully waterproof, so this hole does not affect performance or expose any electronics to damage.

Troubleshooting

Before You Begin: Power On the Numbers

Each number has a physical On/Off button on the back. Before installation, press this button to the ON position to turn the number on. If you have already mounted a number to the wall and it is not lit, you do not need to remove it — use a thin wooden stick to reach behind the number and push the button to the ON position.

Using One Remote for Multiple Numbers

If your address has multiple numbers, they can all be controlled with a single remote. Each number ships with its own remote, but you only need to use one to operate the entire set.

  • Colors don't match: If the numbers are showing different colors, press any one of the color buttons on the remote and all numbers will return to the same color.
  • Numbers blinking: If some or all numbers are blinking, they are in a light mode. Press any one of the color buttons on the remote to reset the mode on all numbers — they will light up steadily with no mode applied.

No Light

  • First, confirm the On/Off button on the back of each number is in the ON position. If the number is already mounted, use a thin wooden stick to push the button without detaching it from the wall.
  • Ensure the solar panel face is not shaded during the day. The integrated panel needs 5–6 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge.
  • On cloudy days, the battery may not charge sufficiently to stay lit until morning. Confirm the numbers have received direct sunlight to fully charge.
  • If needed, consider relocating the numbers to a spot that gets more sunlight throughout the day.
Lights On but Not Activating at Dusk

If the numbers are powered on but still do not light up at dusk, an external light source nearby may be reaching the sensor. The dusk-to-dawn sensor activates the backlight only in darkness — if it detects light from a streetlight, porch light, or other fixture, it will not turn on. Make sure the face of the numbers is not exposed to any external light at night so the sensor can activate properly.

Blinking Lights

  • Try changing the mode using the remote, or with the physical button behind the number. (See "Using One Remote for Multiple Numbers" above to reset all numbers at once.)

Dusk-to-Dawn Error

  • Confirm Darkness: The sensor only activates in the dark. If the numbers are in a lit area or it's daytime, the sensor will not turn the lights on. Ensure they are placed in a sufficiently dark environment at night.
  • Test During Daytime: Cover the face of a number with a dark object to block the sensor. This should trigger the lights to turn on.
